Företaget startade | 01/2022 | "When the synergy between guest, hairdresser and the outside world is affirmed, a fine circle of sustainable relationships arises." The idea of her own salon began to emerge, as Sofi wanted to work with colleagues with the same values and attitude towards hosting. She did some coaching and came up with a hybrid business model around a staff cooperative, which provides more security than self-employment and more flexibility around working hours than regular employment. There are training requirements in place so employees also increase their skills, both in-house, but also on business strategy. |
B Corp Certification | 09/2024 | Soaki Movement is a hair salon in Umeå that focuses on sustainability and quality. Their methods and products are carefully selected to promote sustainable and ethical beauty practices. For example, they use Davines color products, which are B-Corp certified, and advocate for the use of "Paper Not Foil" to minimize environmental impact during the coloring process. The products used are made through regenerative agriculture, which promotes biodiversity, and they work with suppliers affiliated with the Rodale Institute. |
Opportuniy to give back | 05/2024 | We want to give back a little of all the good things we get in our everyday life, and that is why we have chosen to get involved in the local community in different ways. We do this, among other things, by recruiting hair models from the association VÄN I UMEÅ, a NGO network for increased integration. The association's members then not only get the opportunity to be a star model for a day, but we also get the opportunity to work with different hair types, which promotes our skill development. To further support the association in their important work, we also contribute a fundingon a yearly basis. |
DESCRIPTION
Soaki Movement is Sweden’s first B-Corp certified hair salon, where quality and sustainability are always in focus. They offer services such as cutting, coloring, styling and hair extensions. The salon uses carefully selected products, such as Davines B-Corp certified hair dyes and “Paper Not Foil”, a reusable alternative to aluminum foil that reduces environmental impact. Pricing is based on hair volume instead of gender, creating fair prices for all customers. Soaki Movement also collaborates with local schools to offer internships and train the sustainable hairdressers of the future. The products used are made through regenerative agriculture, which promotes biodiversity, and they work with suppliers affiliated with the Rodale Institute. In addition, the salon is involved in the Umeå climate roadmap, an initiative where the companies in Umeå come together to accelerate the climate transition together.
