Västerbotten county in northern Sweden is home to 280,000 people and blends vibrant urban centers like Umeå and Skellefteå with smaller towns and rural communities creating unique opportunities for collaboration and innovation. The county spans an area of over 55,000 km² a land area larger than that of Denmark or the Netherlands. Cirkulära Västerbotten is an initiative by Coompanion Västerbotten, Umeå Municipality, Umeå’s water and waste management company Vakin, and property company Diös. The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund. It aims to help businesses and organisations adopt circular economy practices and promote sustainable development for SMEs working towards a more resource-efficient and resilient Västerbotten. By providing tools, resources and knowledge, we address outdated norms and encourage practices that reduce waste, extend material lifespans and foster a sustainable future. Together, we’re making Västerbotten a leading region for circular economy. Discover inspiring local solutions on this site!
